Deivimar torin (Chinita’s fair)

All about the fair
My name is Deivimar Torin, I’m 21 years old, I live in Maracaibo but I was born in Barquisimeto, I like to play football in my free time.
I like modeling, and all the mass media. I study the 8 semester of social communications in URBE.
I like to go to Chinita’s fair because I have a lot of fun with my friends and my boyfriend whom I love and I get to watch the sunrise with them.
My favorite local celebration is the Chinita’s fair. It’s on November the 18th; people get together and celebrate at home or go to parties.
Me and my family usually stay at home and make a party.

Chinita`s Fair

Chinitas fair is the name of a festivity that takes place every year for three days, from the 17th to the 19th November in Maracaibo.
That festivity commemorates the miracle of the Virgin of Chiquinquira  which is the virgin of Zulia.

The tradition tells that at the shore of the Maracaibo lake appeared a Little table that was found by an old woman that took it to her place. After a few days, on November the 18th of 1709, the old lady heard noises coming from the little table; at first she didn`t pay attention to it but then she decided to check the little table and when she did that she realized that on the surface of the little table the Virgin of Chiquinquira had appeared shinning with a extremely bright light, so the old lady went out to the street and start yelling that is was a miracle.
Afterward the old woman told the story to the locals and they started to worship the Virgin, after that they decided to built a monument in the exact place where the house of the old lady was, located in front of la “ Basilica de la Virgen de Chiquinquira”.
At the end the locals start to celebrate the day that the Virgin appeared to the old lady.
